The Bangalore Mission has reached out to the Covid victims with timely assistance by way of medical help, food supplies/ provisions, clothing and shelter. Many of our schools were converted into centres to house and treat Covid-19 patients and help them rehabilitate and convalesce.
BREADS Bangalore, as part of our Mission, has been provid¬ing financial support for the medical volunteering initiative of the Indian Catholic Youth Movement, led by FrAnil D’Sa, a Salesian of Don Bosco from the Bangalore Province. In col¬laboration with the Camillian brothers, the initiative brings together 50 volunteers, training them to be Covid Warriors in hospitals in Bangalore city. Trained by medical experts, the volunteers assist nurses and doctors by taking care of the food, medicine, and other assistance to COVID patients in the ICUs and wards.
They will also serve as gofers, fetching necessary reports and medicines, thus easing the load on the nurses. It is not easy, as they are forced to live away from their families. They are under strict restrictions of behaviour and movement, taking onerous precautions of PPE kits and vaccination. What they undertake in full awareness of the risks involved, will truly bring relief and consolation not only to the patients but also to the medical staff, who labour day in and day out to fulfill their duties.
