The vocation camp Arike for the post-SSLC batch of Kerala region took place from April 18 to April 23, 2023. The camp was made special for the 32 participants, who came from all over Kerala. The five-day camp included a variety of classes designed to pique the boys’ interest and aid in their vocation-discerning process. Fr. Thomas Koonan SDB, Rector of Don Bosco Bhavan enlightened them on Salesian Vocation. Fr. P. D. Thomas SDB, Rector Don Bosco Palluruthy enlivened the students on the social involvements of Salesians. Fr. Raju Chakkanattu SDB, one of the former vocation promoters, and Fr. Jitto Kunnathu SDB, a new priest of the Bangalore province also animated participants with their lively and eyeopening sessions on Salesian vocation and its nuances. For the participants, Fr. Jaison Narippara, SDB, led a recollection. During the camp, Sr. Ruby, CTC, offered counselling to all of the participants. Fr. James Plackkattu, vocation promoter, addressed the participants and also discussed personally with each of the participants to bring clarity of thought on the vocation concepts of each of the participants. Party games, party songs, fun games, outing, animated assemblies, campfire, music nite, etc. helped them better understand the Salesian spirit and its joy. Dn. Christy Thykkattu, the camp chief, was assisted by Br. Sam Robin, Br. Rimal Johnson in the planning and conducting of the vocation camp. The support and presence of Mannuthy Don Bosco Bhavan Community helped the campers better understand Salesian living.
